just something that is absoluetely swamped with fleshed out lore. even if we as the reader never interact with them. tolkein had the mayar and ainur and stuff like that even if we never really truly interact with it. grrm fleshes out sothoryos, yi ti even if he never intends to visit them truly. old history ancient history stuff like that. would love something to just obsess over the lore behind.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson is exactly what you’re looking for – dude created like 300,000 years of history and most of it you only get glimpses of through random conversations and flashbacks
