I’ve finished this book about a month ago and I’m about a quarter through the sequel and I just wanted to post here and ask if anyone has read his work and if so what their thoughts are?
I think it was a very well researched book but at the same time it was an incredibly heavy narrative with may very complex and until recently totally anonymous people on both sides of the conflict.
Overall an excellent read imo.

Ghost Wars is definitely a dense read but Coll’s research is insane. If you’re looking for something similar, check out Lawrence Wright’s “The Looming Tower” – covers some of the same ground but focuses more on Al-Qaeda’s origins. Also hits that same “holy shit this actually happened” feeling
