To begin, can anyone explain why this book exists.
There is nothing to actually spoil, because there is no plot, but it is “about” an unemployed middle class white woman with poor boundaries with her entitled daughter, who goes to several doctor’s appointments and scrolls her Facebook feed. Someone she doesn’t know dies at the beginning of the book and that’s all that happens with that.
There is no conflict, no character development, just snappy comments delivered in first-person narration.
I am reviewing this drivel on every platform available to me, but I’ve been limited to giving it at least one star, which is a shame because it hasn’t even earned a half of one star.
Is the author blackmailing her publisher, GMA for picking this book? What is the appeal? I’m truly lost.
