Books Like Rivers Of London & The Stranger Times series
Hey all,
I have read all the books available in these series and loved them but have been unable to find anything similar to them to fill the void waiting for the next in the series.
Have you tried the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher? It’s got that same urban fantasy detective vibe but set in Chicago instead of London. The main character is a wizard PI dealing with supernatural crime and the writing has similar humor mixed with actual mystery plotting

What do you like about them?
I can second the Dresden Files for supernatural investigative work. Also Simon R. Green’s Nightside series is in a very similar vein (and I think I prefer them, though they’re not as well known).
The Rotherweird trilogy has that undercurrent of *oddness* you may be looking for.
It doesn’t have the supernatural elements, but The Last Policeman was a good and slightly unorthodox detective novel. I haven’t read the rest yet, though.
