I've always had a thing for haunted houses / abandoned and lonely parallel universe type settings. I just finished reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and it rekicked the love for these types of settings (including anything vaguely backrooms inspired).
I've already read house of leaves, the wonder state, and the haunting of hill house (liked them all). Ideally looking for a book published after / during the 1990s. Non-fiction recs are okay too if they focus on the topics of urban decay or abandoned spaces.

The Shining. In many details it’s much different than the Kubrick adaptation, so if you’ve seen the movie, don’t let it discourage you from reading the King book.
