I’m at the depths of the darkest place right now. I need a book to take my mind elsewhere and give me hope, or at least perspective. Could you recommend a story that helped you in any way during depression?

This one might be different than what you’re looking for but I just finished A Promised Land by Barack Obama and it did make me feel a bit more hopeful about the future state of the world. That there is still a chance we will come back from the chaos of today and return to some level of normalcy.
I hope that helps, but if not I can probably find some other recs. I hope you find something that helps!
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Album.
Fantastic book that I just read for the first time about a month ago and will make a habit of reading it yearly
