Looking for alternate history with strong female leads.

As an example, I loved Mary Robinette Kowal's Lady Astronaut series for the historically accurate setting (space race) but then a divergent event (asteroid strike) which changes things. I also loved that series because there were multiple plotlines running with different women in various roles.

    1. It’s YA, but I’m a sucker for the American Royals series. It’s an alternate history where the Washingtons became a royal family, and this follows the modern-day American Royal Family. My boyfriend has a degree in revolutionary history so he loathes the concept as a whole, but I thought it was fun!!!

    2. The Devils by Joe Abercrombie, for some dark, funny, character-driven fantasy set in an alternate history, medieval fantasy Europe.

    3. Island in the Sea of Time and its sequels by S.M. Stirling have varied and interesting strong women
