I've been working on a book series for a while, and am planning to query it soon once I rework it a bit. I'm looking for books that might serve as good comparison titles. Newer is better, but I'm not opposed to reading some older ones that you think might help me improve my writing!

Here's some characteristics (I'll keep it vague since I'm interested in books even tangentially similar!):

    – Near-future post-apocalypse following a catastrophic natural disaster

    – One corrupt, self-sustaining city manages to survive, constructed for this purpose by wealthy elite and government officials, uses biological warfare, taxation, and military threat to harass nearby settlements of survivors for resources

    – Young female protagonist (age 10 to age 20) born after the disaster into a small settlement of survivors, becomes a talented marksman under her very morally-grey adoptive father and ultimately becomes a villain in her quest for revenge

    – Despite the young age of the protagonist there are some darker themes/scenes that might make it more appropriate for older audiences

    – Themes of found family, trust (and lack thereof), colonialism/oppression, disillusionment, rivalry, loss/grief, justice, nationalism, self-reliance/willpower, female rage, coming to terms with a lack of natural talent, role of the arts during war/conflict

    – Transitions from coming-of-age story to more of a political thriller

If there's any books you think I should read, I'd love to know about them!
