Just finished a sci-fi / dystopian novel where a 13-year-old wakes up in the year 2162 and realizes everyone else on Earth has disappeared overnight. No apocalypse, no bodies, no explanation — just complete silence.
What I liked was the quiet nature of it. It’s less action-heavy and more about loneliness, confusion, and slowly trying to understand what happened. Also interesting that it’s set in a futuristic New Delhi instead of the usual US/Europe setting.
Now I’m kinda in the mood for similar books — last-person-on-earth vibes, mysterious disappearances, psychological or speculative sci-fi. Doesn’t have to be YA.
If it helps, the book was ME: The Beginning by Akhil S. Vernas.
