My book club chose American Dirt, and I'm not keen. I tried to make a case as to why this wasn't a good choice, but I was outvoted.
If I can't convince them otherwise, though, I thought perhaps I could suggest another book to read as a companion piece — a book that's actually written by a Mexican-American author, for example, or one that might help those who chose the book why it's controversial? Could I get any suggestions for good books in that context?
(please don't argue about whether or note we should read American Dirt, that's settled already)
