My favorite books are thrillers (A Simple Plan, Mystic River, anything by Stephen King, Gone Girl, stuff like that) but I love the Elder Scrolls games.
I've always wanted to get into a long fantasy series but I find that they spend so much time on world building that I'm not able to commit to it. I loved The Hobbit but haven't gotten into Lord of the Rings yet.
I would love to read a fantasy book that has a similar feel to Skyrim or Oblivion, but in terms of storyline and character arcs I would probably be more drawn to something that is written like a thriller.
For example if there was a storyline something along the lines of, it's set in a big fantasy kingdom but the then king's servant accidentally messes up but tries to hide it from the king and then it just unravels into a bigger and bigger mess, that kind of thing.
