Recently read Pillars of the Earth and now reading World Without End. Follett does a great job at describing what life would be like in 12th century England. From techniques used by the builders, to how they weave and dye their wool into cloth, and also the whole social hierarchy with Earls, bishops, priors, etc. You get a good sense of how people were living back then. Shogun also does a good job at this. What are some other books with vivid descriptions of the time/place the book is set in? Doesn’t have to be olden times
