I am not a huge Stephen King fan but sometimes I pick up his books and they either hit or miss. I very often enjoy the setup of his books more than the payoffs.
Reading The Institute at first had me very interested but then it just went into a totally different direction so it was not for me ultimately.
The first part is a about an ex-cop who hitchhikes from Florida to New York after the Air plane he was on got over booked and he took the payout and decided to hitchhike instead.
He ends up in a town in South Carolina and takes a job there as a night Knocker.
