Hi, uh I kind of want to get back into reading books. I've found myself slipping lately, like I'm not really fully present, dunno how to explain it other than it just feels like I'm zoned out with much of everything I'm doing. I wanna get back into reading to hopefully regain some focus, and to absorb some creativity I guess…
Anyways I don't really know what I'm looking for– I like horror as a genre, but also I wanna read something interesting, profound, inspiring (?).
I love films but lately I haven't been able to finish any due to my waning attention span, however, the ones I've managed to finish as of late were ones that fit into the category I listed above (profound, inspiring, thought-provoking). Some of them are eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, eternity, everything everywhere all at once.
If you guys have ever read something that changed your outlook on life, I'd also love to hear what work it is, thanks.
P.s.: if this can be of help, I've read my fair share in the past: from classical to children's to comics. I find that I enjoy formal writing the most (not classical because I don't like needing to bring up a thesaurus every other sentence), stories that are very vivid in describing with rich characters. I do, however, enjoy casual writing in cases like self-help books, philosophy books, or in general literary pieces where the author isn't really telling a story but rather trying to get a point across, dunno if that makes sense.
