So I’ve had an off and on relationship with reading my entire life. I think being in public school and being assigned certain books that had to be read within a certain time frames ended up giving me a stressful relationship with reading, but just recently I’ve finally fallen back in love with it in an attempt to stay away from my phone more! I just finished The House of my Mother by Shari Franke (iykyk) and I’m currently FLYING through I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jenette McCurdy. (I actually have a great relationship with my own mom. I just happen to love both of these haha.) I’m not sure I’ve ever gone through a book so fast as I just started it the other day and I’m more than halfway through. I’ve always really liked autobiographies by people I know of. In middle school I loveddd Hepatitis Bathtub, the autobiographies of the members of the band NOFX, and I loved Tranny by Laura Jane Grace (I was obsessed w her.) Also in high school I remember reading Retablos and it really stuck with me. Besides that I hadn’t gotten much reading done in the last few years, but a few years ago I read Where the Crawdads Sing and absolutely loved it. Another fiction I loved was My Dark Vanessa, as well as My Absolute Darling. I guess I typically gravitate towards things with more dark themes and maybe a little bit of suspense. But something I’ve realized is that I definitely have a heavy preference for things that are set in reality as I have a hard time getting into fantasy type things or stories that are set further back than the 1900s. Sorry if this is all over the place I’m just very excited by my newfound desire to read and how quickly I’m getting through this book so I would love some suggestions for other things that could maybe fit these categories!
