I'm in need of something contemporary, with a female main character, preferably an adult. I don't care about romance, fine if it's there but preferably not the main focus.
I don't mind a little magical realism. I really, really can't handle a book set during a war right now. I'm looking for a bit of escapism.
I'd like a story about a woman starting over, maybe? I'm a sucker for a story that starts with a bad break up and/or job loss and then we get to follow her as she figures out what to do next. You know?
I'm not looking for anything deep or impressive. Just a story that is easy to pick up and disappear into.
