Memoirs on songwriting/by songwriters?

hi!

i just read “saved by a song” by Mary gauthier and really loved it. what I liked was even though it offered ideas related to songwriting and how she came into her own as a songwriter, it didn’t feel didactic or like writing a song is at all formulaic. I also love that this book tracks her struggles and how they played a role in her music. so yeah, I’d like a memoir written by a songwriter that may offer wisdom to someone just getting into songwriting, but it is told in the form of a narrative of the author’s life. thanks!
