A book that is about wandering in an ancient world

I would like a book that is about a sort of melancholic wandering in an ancient world full of mysteries and mysticism , in a calming way. If you've ever played Ico or watched Mushishi, and a little bit of Vagabond, those three scratched the itch personally. My only thing I really ask for is that it roughly focus around one character. The book that came the closed to getting this was piranesi but it was a bit too drama heavy for what I was looking for but I do love that book. Lmk if you want any more clarification
