Four years ago, I remember reading books like *They Both Die at the End,* *The Song of Achilles* and *Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe* and loving them. I want books that give me that same sense of possibility in life.
Books outside of romance/love/gay male stories are highly welcome as I'm mainly seeking bildunsromans, stories of change and growth, etc., but its okay if they have some romantic element to them. Adult fiction/"highbrow" literary fiction isn't really resonating with me at this moment in my life, as knowledgeable as I may sound to others and as much as I may love poetry I've read. So long as the books I'm suggested are still highly thematic and well crafted, of course.
For the past couple years I've had so many setbacks in life despite my resilience. As much as I've been pivoting to new goals in life, I've felt like my high school running career faltered, that I'm stuck in my dead-end job, and I question if I regret the large STEM research university I chose because I don't quite fit the mold like my peers do. I've felt my fair share of disillusionment over the past couple of years and need books that make me feel like I'm becoming something greater.
