In middle school I read The Sea of Trolls (the entire trilogy) by Nancy Farmer. To this day, nothing I’ve read has ever touched the magic I felt of these books. I realize they’re not crazy popular, but I’m hoping someone has either read them too or will just read the description and suggest some readalikes.
It is a fantasy series with Norse mythology connections. Absolutely loved that. It was YA enough to be easy to understand but still definite fantasy with good world building. Had a super cute, friendship and maybe hinted at lovership? that was very wholesome and you could see the relationship grow and change through the three books. Very likable characters and great character growth. Lots of adventure, not necessarily low stakes but also not outwardly violent/scary.
