This book is “A Tale Of Two Cities” , written by Charles Dickens as we all know, I just received it today as it got shipped to me from England for 11 euros, through Amazon. I got it Vintage Classics. I actually chose this book specifically because, I used to study it when I was younger like grade 8 or 9 and I absolutely loved it ! ( I’m now 16 years old fyi ) Also I wanted to test my English since I was the most fluent one in my social circle and like, the one with the best knowledge and level ( I took some English level proficiency tests and the results came telling I’m B2-C1 level so I think I’m able to understand most of any content ) , I’m a non-native though and I was used to reading in my native language. However, I had no idea that Dickens’ method of storytelling is that complicated !
Anyways, when I got it, I just tried to read the first pages, I didn’t understand anything ! I’ve been searching for how to understand these expressions and that way of writing and didn’t find anything appealing. I’m afraid if I wasted money on it as it was my birthday’s present and my parents won’t like the fact that I bought a book which I won’t read or at least right away.
So how can I read this in a way that I can understand? And if it’s too early for me to read it, any good suggestions for books that I can read till I can face Dickens’ pressure and linguistic “Tiki-Taka” ? XD
