I'm a big fan of fanfiction romances that have a main plotline and are 200-400k words long (about equivalent to 3-6 romance novels!) and have the main character and love interest getting closer platonically before anything at all happens romantically. (Not interested in love at first sight or typical romance genre instant-and-extreme-attraction.) I'd love to hear if anyone knows about published romance novels which have some serious slowburn in that way. Bonus points if it's not pushing gender stereotypes/gender roles, has fantasy or historical elements, F/F, mutual pining, or WELL DONE miscommunication. Stories outside the romance genre with a strong romance subplot welcome, since I know this really goes against typical romance structure!
