I have read quite a lot of hockey romances but I always seem to end up being more interested in the hockey and team dynamics than the actual romance. I recently binged the show Shoresy and realised that I'd love to read something similar!
So I guess I'm looking for a contemporary sports story (ideally hockey but open to others) with a focus on team dynamics, the actual game, the difficulties of being an athlete, etc. Bonus points if the team in question is going through a rebuild/is the worst in their league. I want the hope and glory of seeing a group of people establish a bond and fight for their future as a team..
I'm completely fine if romance is present as long as it doesn't dominate the story and i need the book to be more on the happy, hopeful, funny side of things so no murder, or thriller elements.
