I'm looking for a fantasy book that emphasizes worldbuilding rather than the story. Might sound weird but I'm looking for something that focuses more on the richness and details of the fictional universe rather than a central storyline. If there are any conflicts, I'd prefer them to be limited to skirmishes between different races or factions and not large-scale battles. No world-altering conflicts, no big bad. Just looking for something where an author explores his imagination through a detailed fictional world.

The Silmarillion is perfect for this – it’s basically just Tolkien nerding out about his world’s history and mythology with zero focus on traditional storytelling
