I'm looking for women led contemporary fiction books with socio-economic/feminist commentary, preferably foreign and written by women.

For example I have The parlour wife by Foluso Agbaje on my tbr and I feel like this fits.

    1. Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami

Diary of a Void by Emi Yagi

Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata

      The Vegetarian by Han Kang

      Women Talking by Miriam Toews

      Moth by Melody Razak

    2. The Vegetarian by Han Kang, Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami, Reservoir Bitches by Dahlia de la Versa, Still Born by Guadalupe Nettel if you’re interested in the topic of becoming a mother (both pro and contra), and Butter by Asako Yuzuki if you don’t mind a side of crime and gastronomy — imo it’s a very entertaining read and there’s some good social commentary under the surface about women’s role in society (and specifically work culture in Japan), body image issues, female friendship etc
