My husband would like to get more into reading and needs some suggestions. He’s very into sports and would love to read ”behind the curtain” non-fiction about athletes. When asked if he would want to try fiction, he said “um I guess” so open to suggestions there too! But hoping to avoid anything depressing (I keep suggesting Into Thin Air but the premise seems a bit bleak for him). He hasn’t read much in a really long time so no books to compare to, but he loves Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Entourage, The Last Dance.
Thank you in advance!

If he likes Ted Lasso, I recommend Under the Lights and in the Dark by Gwen Oxenham. It’s a compilation of stories about pro women’s soccer players and the lengths they went to so they could play soccer – some that you’ve heard of (Marta) and some that you probably haven’t.
Sticking with women’s soccer, I really liked Hope Solo’s memoir. It made me understand her in a way that I didn’t before. Abby Wambach’s book is good, too.
