I really like morally questionable characters…I don't mean like holy balls send this person to Mars theyre so bad. No I mean like a Zuko pre-GAang. Or like Azula, horrible, but somehow redemptive? Maybe? Maybe not? <- this exact vibe of like damn they suck, but also like do they though?
In the same vein, characters that are sort of frustratingly real are also cool, too. Like Carol from Pluribus, jeez she's insufferable, but like low key, so valid for that.
Serious bonus points if the main character or the villain (or both if they are the same) is a woman or there is a very strong female presence/character who gets a lot of page time. I am open to all types of books with maybe the exceptions of like deep deep fantasy (love fantasy, but just not like super intricate fantasy) and deep deep romance (no dunk on romance novels, but as a perpetually single lesbian, and totally fine with that, it's just not really my jam lol).
