Book about Jesus by 1930s rabbi

I'm looking for the title and author of a historical book about Jesus, his ministry and his times. It's at least 1000 pages and was written by a rabbi in the 1930s. I vaguely remember that it went into detail about the socio-political milieu of Jesus' times. Would any of you know which book and author I am looking for? Many thanks in advance for all your help!
