    1. The Holdfast Chronicles the grotesquest feminist sci fi series I’ve read. I’d google for some reviews beforehand because…well to be diplomatic the author focused on bizarre sexual practices for the feminist satire. But it was excellent imo. Most of the magical realism comes in the fourth book. If you don’t want to get into everything the first three books do, Book 4 (The Conqueror’s Child) *can* be read as a standalone, though you’ll be missing some in-universe context.

The Shore of Women and The Power (Naomi Alderman) are both more religious in their feminist commentary, also both sci-fi. The Power is a touch gorier and a touch more grotesque than TSOW. Both are a touch less magic-ish than Holdfast.

OH! Feminism may vary, but the grotesqueries and religious theming are replete in Succubi by Edward Lee. Lots of gore, the occasionally interesting idea or phrase, and the plot centers on an ancient cult of…well, see title.
