Hi everyone,
Let me explain exactly what I'm thinking. I'm looking for a book where:
-
the family and friends gather for an event, and long-suppressed tensions/conflicts surface
-
it's more psychological, showcasing characters, individual/shared drama, and relationships
-
it's beautifully written, more so real literature than trashy, pulpy books (I hope I am clear on this one, English is not my first language) No judgment, I just don't feel like that right now
-
NOT a murder mystery
-
NOT an Agatha Christie-type story
-
NOT a story about race, ethnicity, religion, or slavery.
-
bonus points if it's set in the American South, like the drama
-
bonus bonus points if it's available as an ebook
Similar stuff I liked:
Blackwater saga
Lionel Shriver: Big brother
And did NOT like
Franzen's – The Corrections – I couldn't simphatize with literally anybody in this book…
