Looking for books (podcasts or anything any genre) that discuss AI from a more philosophical/ social theory angle. Not so much technical stuff, I'm curious about things like AI's impact on human identity, dignity, and autonomy, questions like how AI reshapes structures, or humanity and ghost in the machine, etc. Any recommendations?

I’d definitely recommend “Weapons of Math Destruction” by Cathy O’Neil – it’s not strictly about AI but dives deep into how algorithms already shape our lives in ways we don’t even realize, which feels super relevant to your questions about autonomy and social structures. For something more philosophical, “The Age of Spiritual Machines” by Ray Kurzweil gets into some wild territory about consciousness and what it means to be human when machines start thinking like us. Also check out “Automating Inequality” by Virginia Eubanks if you want to see how these systems are already affecting real people in welfare, healthcare, and criminal justice – it’s eye-opening stuff about dignity and power structures. Nick Bostrom’s “Superintelligence” might scratch that philosophical itch too, though it can get a bit heavy at times
