A bit of context, I’m a 38 year old who recently returned to school for a third time in order to obtain my Masters in Social Work. I mention that specifically because my second degree was an MBA, and I’m familiar with some resources regarding my title that are geared specifically towards the business world.

I guess I’m looking for more philosophical and/or self-help (as I flagged this post) resources about empathetic and active listening and how to relate to others from different backgrounds by asking good questions that can be more universal. As an example, I’ve done a lot of reading recently surrounding Taoism as I feel there are a lot of lessons about control and attempting to control others that are massively applicable to social work, specifically around patient autonomy.

I’m not discarding the lessons, advice, and aforementioned resources as they apply to business, but I guess I’m looking for more abstract books about humanity in general, how to treat others, ask questions that get others to open up, etc. I hope this makes sense and if I can help clarify anything, please let me know. Appreciate any help in advance!
