Read a few of these! Convenience Store Woman is pretty wild – it’s about this woman who works in convenience store for years and everyone thinks she’s weird because she doesn’t follow normal social expectations. Really short but hits different, Murata has this way of making you question what “normal” even means
Pachinko is absolutely massive but worth it. Follows Korean family across generations during Japanese occupation, lots of family drama and historical stuff. Fair warning though, it’s like 500+ pages so prepare for commitment
The Stranger is classic existential crisis material – guy commits murder and doesn’t really care about anything. Camus writing style is pretty straightforward but the themes will mess with your head in good way. Perfect if you’re feeling philosophical
