Looking for a book for my book club. It's a mix of friends some avid readers, some not so much, a few BIG horror genre fans. Trying to find something that will draw in everyone.
Ideally:
– Summer/Vacation Vibes (something with White Lotus vibes would be great)
– Scary, Thrilling, Eerie
– Not too gory or slasher
– Less than 400 pages and standalone

oh you absolutely need to check out The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell – its got this creepy victorian country house vibe thats perfect for summer reading, like if downton abbey had a horror baby with the white lotus
The whole thing revolves around these wooden figures that may or may not be moving around at night and there definitely creepy enough to keep your horror fans happy without being too slasher-y for the casual readers, plus its under 350 pages so nobody will feel overwhelmed
