I want a book in some sort of fucked up universe but the book's main focus is on mundane day to day life stuff. Like "Aw man, the great demon sacrifice is in three weeks, but anyway, I'm so nervous about this job interview coming up!"
I want almost a fish in water type of experience where the main characters are just going about their day to day life having completely normalized living in some fucked up world, but as the reader you are picking up on all the weird shit that's going on around them as they just try to navigate their normal everyday life. And the book doesn't just start off saying "This world's fucked innit", since it's focused on the main characters doing mundane things there's more like tidbits of information about the setting that get dropped occasionally eventually building up a more clear picture of the weird world this perfectly normal being is navigating through doing the best they can.

This is the exact plot of *A Better World* by Sarah Langan (it fully jumps several sharks at the end.)
1984 by George Orwell
The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
Kallocain by Karin Boye
When We Were Real by Daryl Gregory fits this pretty well!
