Apologize for the long context:
Someone in Bridgerton-verse asked what if Lady in Silver and Sophie are really 2 different people. My response was that realistically, it will be a true dilemma because Benedict Bridgerton will find himself between 2 women with very similar qualities that he loves. Then I realized that I don’t really know how that feels nor how one would resolve that kind of conflict in a story. So I’m curious if anyone has recommendations.
For people who don’t watch Bridgerton, it’s about this man meeting a woman in silver dress on a masquerade ball and lost her (like fled Cinderella), then meeting another woman (who’s actually the same woman but he didn’t recognize her)
More criteria:
• I’m NOT looking for Bridgerton-type of books. This doesn’t even have to be romance as long as it does a good exploration in such emotions.
• Not Madonna-mistress and not heart vs head since the two are the same “type”. And not feel-good dual-suitors; preferably not feel-good at all (yes I’m cynical and miserable).
• Doesn’t really have to be a love triangle though—for example, it could be that one has passed sway, but the other should not be a substitute, or the lead has to explore their feelings. Polygamy is also fine.
• Preferably modern fiction.
• Obviously gender and sexuality doesn’t matter. But if it’s queer, preferably by a queer author, not fetishized.
Thank you very much!
