So my three favorite series are Lord of the Rings, The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey, and the Chivalry series by Christian Cameron.
I love LotR for many reasons, but suggestions of fantasy I’m looking for currently are in relation to the sheer depths of its world building, and history. I’d also prefer no heavy handed allegorical works. I enjoy a story being a story, and told as the history, or mythos of that world.
For Sci-Fi I’m looking for things that have The Expanse’s hyper realistic take on the genre, especially in the sense of future technologies still having a basis in scientific theory/theoretically plausible. I enjoy a ships crew being where the story revolves as well.
For historical fiction I’m looking for something in a similar vain to the Chivalry series. (With historical fiction is hard to put a finger on why the Chivalry series has captured me so much other than “it’s amazingly written” but I feel readers of the series might understand what it is that makes it special)
Please note if you have read any of these series in your suggestions, thank you!
