I am looking for a fiction book that is set in Ancient Greece and accurately depicts life at the time, but written for a modern audience. I am currently in the mood for something fast paced and full of emotions, but anything you deem thrilling or moving is appreciated, I'd love to find good books about Ancient Greece. OK, stick with me here, but if you enjoy sci-fi you might check out Ilium by Dan Simmons. A good chunk of it takes place in Ancient Greece and, while I admittedly don’t know much about what life was like back then, it seems somewhat accurate to me. It has great descriptions of life in the camps and within the city walls.
Of course, you also have Greek gods, time travelers, alien robots, and other things that take it out of Ancient Greece, but it is one fantastic book that I truly enjoyed (once I figured out what what going on) and recommend to anyone who loves Greek mythology. .
