I usually read nonfiction about politics, natural disasters, war, genocide, and things like that. It's usually super depressing or infuriating, and I've read a lot of fiction lately because I can't handle my preferred nonfiction topics right now. I'd like to get back into nonfiction, I just need some help finding books with a different mood.
I'm interested in science, geology, volcanoes, feminism, lesbianism, and niche topics that I didn't know you could write a book about, like the history of fonts or whatever.I don't like self help books or super sappy things.
Thank you in advance!

I really love nonfiction that’s about random, niche topics. One of the best books like this that I’ve read recently is Pedestrianism: When Watching People Walk Was America’s Favorite Spectator Sport by Matthew Algeo. Not depressing, not worrying, just really random and fascinating.
The Invention of Nature by Andrea Wulf
Other Minds by Peter Godfrey Smith
Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, by Margot Lee Shetterly
The Lost City of Z and The Lost City of the Monkey God are both great adventures about finding lost civilizations. Braiding Sweetgrass is a beautiful book about indigenous philosophy. The Wager is a riveting shipwreck take.
