Suggestions please! [Hunger Games-esque, interesting “romance”]

I recently reread the hunger games trilogy and even after all these years, I adore the world building and plot – but I also thoroughly enjoy the relationship between Katniss and Peeta.

I’m looking for some book recs that are not necessarily romance based but that include it as an intriguing side plot. Interesting characters are a must and im not looking for the cliches of an overly-swooning woman or an ill-mannered “brooding” man. Not really looking for “romantasy” either.
