Main character grew up in isolation (or otherwise restricted circumstances) and now is cast into a strange scary world…

I love fish-out-of-water and coming-of-age-stories. Bonus points if the story has a dark tone and some real stakes as opposed to YA-type stories. I loved Poor Things, for example. Hoping for more recent publications if possible. Thanks for anything that comes to mind.
