Small-town Mystery for non-reader looking to get into reading.

Hi, I've wanted to get into reading for awhile now, I have no real prior ideas of what I like, but I'm big into films and am interesting reading books with similar aesthetics or tones and storytelling to "Twin Peaks" or "Fargo", so the small-town with a disturbing mystery detective thing really interests me. Mainly mystery, thrillers or horror.

I know this is really vague, but I really don't know what I'm looking for, just need a good starting point, since it's a whole medium of art I'm missing out on.
