I recently got The Bell Jar as it was suggested for the themes of loneliness and depression and whatnot. I haven’t made it very far in and this just feels like it was made for a different audience. I am tired of looking up every type of feminine clothing from the 50s and the main character kinda shits on someone in the first chapter that may as well be a physical description of me. And now I just feel disgusted and hurt with myself at the thought that this is how some women view me. Not at all relatable and tbh I now hate the main character and don’t think I’ll enjoy this book at all.
Same kind of shit happened when I tried to read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.
