I posted here yesterday and I got great suggestions! And just for info; I added them all to my evergrowing TBR pile!
That being said, I'm back and hungry for more. I didn't know the posting rules, so I waited at least 24 hours before posting this, but it was written the same day, just a few hours later.
Okay, so!
I am looking for magical girl books. Preferably about fairies.
What I enjoy is fantasy. I do not enjoy fantasy and scifi being mixed. I prefer fantasy for this request. Can be urban or medieval. Despite saying magical 'girls', I have no trouble with other (non)gendered characters that are also a magical 'girl', so I guess what I'm really looking for is magical people. I like and prefer happy endings. I thoroughly enjoy friendship, found family and platonic pairings. For this request, I do not at all mind YA/coming of age, as I also enjoy that genre very much. I like action scenes with moments of rest between them, striking a good balance between action/other scenes.
What I don't enjoy is romance, I vastly prefer platonic pairings. That being said, I know it's hard to avoid. Just asking that it's not the main story/takes the main story over. Also, at the risk of sounding prudent once more, I still do not enjoy sexual themes. I have trouble following really complicated stories, so they sadly tend to bore me. I have trouble reading in between lines, sensing undertones and grasping insinuations (so I'll often end up reading an analysis later and be like 'ohh, how did I not catch that, it's so obvious!')
In the past, I have enjoyed Rick Riordan books, and very much so, though I still haven't read them all.
I also enjoyed the Hunger Games, which I've started and have yet to finish.
I did not fully get these at all (the science-y talk is lost on me) but I really liked The Martian and I, Robot (still gotta get the rest of those stories!).
If you can, I would like to know what I'm getting into with recommendations, so if you're able to give a short, spoiler free summary then I would really appreciate it!
