I've read Kafka's work and enjoyed it so much, however Dostoevsky remains one of the authors who's work I've read the most. I really enjoy horror, so I have read a lot of Stephen King's books, I love the creativity and plot but somehow the books don't stick with me the way I expect.
I've been looking for books featuring medieval and religious horror, and I've found these recommendations so far:
• The damned (Là-Bas) by Joris-Karl Huysmans- this one seems the most solid one to me regarding what I'm looking for, and if I do read this book, I will probably read the other work he has that connects to this one.
•The Master and the Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov- this one also seems like something I'll enjoy, I don't have many doubts here either. I
•His Black Tongue by Mitchell Lüthi- when I first came across this I got so excited, then the more I got to read others opinions of it I'm really doubting whether I want to read it or not, I'm still very intrigued though.
•Between two fires by Christopher Buehlman- this one is where I am very conflicted, some people describe it as insanely good and the rest straight up hate it.
•The Starving Saints by Caitlin Sterling- I'm very intrigued and curious but the several reviews saying that it starts off good and gets weaker towards the end are really throwing me off, because that's what I really don't like in a book. The story starting off amazing and then falling apart just ruins it for me.
•The Monk by Matthew Lewis- I'll probably read this one, but I haven't really looked into it.
•The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley- also don't know much about this one.
•Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh-same thing goes for this one.
Are any of these worth reading?
