I opened Transit People for the first time this morning and I already know how I'll enjoy it.
I’m planning to spend the next couple of weeks with it as part of my morning coffee routine. I'll take in one illustration, one person at a time. Sitting with each face. Letting my mind do what it always does in stores, malls, and airports when I'm surrounded by strangers. I'll imagine where they’ve been, what they’ve lived through, and quite literally, where are they going?
Some of these people feel like they’d be easy to talk to. Some feel like they’d be harder work. Some feel like they’d surprise you if you gave them the chance.
And I keep thinking about this: somewhere in Toronto, these folks got on a bus or a train and went about their day. And now, a few provinces away, they’re sitting in my hands, reminding me that just being seen can inspire.
