Per the title: I am interested in narratives that explore how relationships (romantic, familial, friends, colleagues, supply chain workers, etc.) are instrumentalized as consumer goods under capitalism and how consent is manufactured within this system.
Kate Folk’s Out There might be a good example (it’s been a few years since I read it). Tender is The Flesh is on my TBR list as a more explicit metaphor for consumption. I think this is arguably a theme within The Rachel Incident as well.
