I am specifically looking for books that relate to the intentional investments into undereducated and underprivileged communities, ones that discuss systemic racism, the lengths prison corporations go for profit that extend into fostering recidivism? I had seen a video of someone saying their college professor told them that prisons corporations use data on reading levels of specific areas to determine the number of future prison beds/cells they will need, and while Google tells me this is an urban legend, I know there are metrics they use and behaviors they exhibit that are for profit rather than the betterment of society. I am also looking for anything related to prisons being the sole source of jobs in a community and their standards for increasing prison count and how their need for prisoners as a commodity affect laws, or practices.
