I’m looking for book recs that are weird/Horror/Horror Adjacent/grotesque. Preferably with a weird female protagonist. I’m not sure how else to describe it. Some books with a similar vibe that I loved are:
Monsters by Emerald Fennell
She’s Always Hungry by Eliza Clark
Annie Bot by Sierra Green
Half his Age by Jennette Mccurdy
Pretty Girls – Karin Slaughter
Earthlings by Sayaka Murata

Sister, Maiden, Monster – Lucy A Snyder
have you read Clark’s novels too?
Tell Me Im Worthless – Alison Rumfitt
Daisy Johnson’s Fen (short stories)
Water shall refuse them, lucie mcknight hardy (folk horror novel)
Drowning Girl – Caitlin r Kiernan
Kirsty Logan’s witch book (can’t remember the exact name), her book of short horror stories, and her audible exclusive The Sound at the End
i quite liked hungerstone, i think its way more typical and less horrific, very much a gothic romance genre piece – but a fun one at that
We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson
• Chlorine by Jade Song
• A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers
• The Unworthy by Agustina Bazterrica
• Jawbone by Mónica Ojeda
• Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata

I love weird girl books. Loved Earthlings and I’m really looking forward to Half His Age!
