Alright so I have been having issues recently finding a good book, I started a few that some people recommended like "the poppy war" by R. F. Kuang but — while probably not bad— they are not to my taste. So here i come in this sub asking for recommendations 🙂
Im searching for a book thats philosophical and psychological, I'm open to a little politics. Something similar to "Terra Ignota" by Ada Palmer or "Salina, the three exiles" by Lorent Gaudé which are both some of my favorite stories.
So while i am looking for something that will change my worldview and make me think deeper, i do still want characters and a story.
More info on things i like/dislike in a book
I like :
– Morally ambiguous characters
– An engaging story
– Complex writing, im okay with a more old-english writing style
– Interaction with the reader (definitely not necessary but a cool plus, especially if well done)
– Another world/timeline
I don't like :
– Romance (im okay with a little and if it has relevance in the story but overall not a big fan)
– Too much action (such as fights and superpowers, once again its okay if its a small part of the story)
– Self aware main character (i don't know how to explain it but basically interaction with the author, or are aware they are just story characters)
– Clichés (the basic stuff like prophecies, memory loss, school life, ect…)
I think thats about it, feel free to ask me questions if you need more info, and thank you for reading all of my post 🙂 hope this is the way i find a new good book!

If you want something that hooks you fast, try a story with big twists way better than scrolling aimlessly
I feel like I constantly rec this one but it really does meet your requirements! The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
You should read “the Stranger” by Albert Camus. Short/easy read, philosophical, very peculiar main character
